GATHER: Gathered and Gathering
2026 Biennial Basketry SA Exhibition at Pepper Street Art Centre, Magill
Our next fabulous 2026 exhibition will run for 5 weeks from 17 April until 22 May with our Official Opening at 6pm Friday 17 April by Dr Kate Delaporte, Curator Waite Arboretum.
We highly encourage all members to join in and consider exhibiting items to share and experience who we are and what we do as community basket weavers and crafters.
1. Exhibition Entry form (must be submitted by 27 February with payment).
2. Trading Table form (to be delivered to Pepper Street Arts Centre on Tuesday 14 April together with Trading Table items).
Please note that as each Exhibition comes around there are some changes we experience. Pepper Street are able to offer us trading table availability on Saturday 18 April and 2, 9, and 16 May from 12 noon–5pm, which are days Basketry SA members gallery sit; provide artist talks and demonstrations.
It would be most appreciated if you would please tick your preferred volunteering option on the bottom of the Exhibition Entry form.
We are also offering a group project, As We Gather, free for all Basketry SA members to participate.
As you gather with friends, as you gather ideas and as you gather materials, you are invited to contribute to a very special Basketry SA display at our upcoming 2026 Biennial Exhibition – GATHER: Gathered and Gatherings.
Alongside individual exhibition pieces, we are working on a member’s collaborative piece.
All members are invited to make a ‘figure’, up to 30cm tall using your chosen basketry technique and materials to be displayed as a collective and hung on the wall.
This would be a great project to work on in your groups. We would love you to make a real statement piece that represents the breadth of techniques and creativity of our members.
These works will not be for sale. On delivery you must have a small label on the back with your name on it (so that it cannot be seen when hung).
We look forward to seeing member's work!!

2024 Hughes Gallery, Fullarton Park Community Centre - Form and Shadow
Saturday 17 February – Monday 11 March
Shadows speak about the shape and texture of objects and the source of transient light. Local artists, using natural and reclaimed materials, combine the ancient craft of basket making with contemporary flair to weave practical and sculptural forms with the subtlety of shadow in mind.
